Description: Yesteryear refers to a period in the past with a set of values or a way of life that no longer exists. If we do not reflect on the ghosts of the past, we cannot learn and grow in the present. On a visit to Joan of Arc’s burial ground in Rouen, I took this photograph as a reminder of the strong woman who went before us and the price they had to pay. I embroidered a famous painting of Joan of Arc on her horse, but left her out, as a ghost, making visible only the reflection of the church built in her honour.
