Memento Mori /məˌmɛntəʊ ˈ ~ an object kept as a reminder of the inevitability of death.
I am fascinated by the whole printmaking process, especially etching and its many varieties. From aquatints to mezzotints, I love to experiment with it all. This series was done while I was recovering from some injuries. The skeleton makes us realize our own mortality and fragility. While the flowers signify hope, healing, and growth, it also serves as a reminder of the ephemeral nature of it all.
This series was done with dry point etching on a copperplate. I later added aquatint, and then experimented some more with embroidery, paper weave and chine collé in this varied etching edition. I am also including some of the pen and ink sketches I made for further miniature etchings, and some fine art print variations.
