In this expanding series, I am questioning a lot of political, religious and cultural traditions. I have taken public sculptures from all over the world as a basis to make it universal, and using the female figure as a symbol of both freedom and captivity.
I would like to let the viewer re-assess their lives, values and where they are going from an objective point of view, both globally and introspectively. On another level it is also whimsical and hopeful, and masks the deeper meaning, which is also what I want my art to do: transcend above this all and bring joy to the viewer.
This series became particularly powerful and important for me to do after we had the opportunity to take a universal pause during this global pandemic, reassessing our lives.
