So, it happened!!! My very first Art Exhibition ever! And the cherry on top was that it took place in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, my beloved Paris!! The centre of art, architecture and beauty.
Firstly, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I would just like to thank everybody who showed up to see my first exhibition this decade. So many kind words and well wishes. I was totally overwhelmed with the response I was met with, it was both inspiring and humbling. I met so many new people, invaluable contacts and a few very gracious write-ups on social media.
There was such an unexpected big turn up and it was wonderful meeting so many new people, having interesting conversations and seeing old acquaintances. I was also subsequently invited by a few people and galleries to come and meet with them, and even had inquiries from South Africa of people “booking” these works as soon as I am back. I couldn’t be happier.
I created a body of work with an central theme of connection and integration. I wanted my work to make an emotional connection with the viewer, while simultaneously emphasizing the connection between everything, as well as the different viewpoints or perspectives of a mutually shared situation. It was called “Intertwined”.
I had a variety of works in different mediums and in different stages of development, which proved to be a great way to test people’s reaction to it. I also demonstrated some techniques, which was an effective way to create interaction with the guests, and they had a lot of fun!
A special thank you to the following people:
– Everyone who stole my advertising posters, thanks for the compliment
– My Cité friends Amira Al-Sharif and Hannah Cooke who helped me get my act together.
– Vera Mihailovich-Dickman from Le KRAAL who braved the transport complications and made time for me in her busy schedule
I am so grateful and thankful for the talent I received, and blessed beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you so much for all the well wishes and sales. I cannot wait to see you all when I am back. #2020greatstart
