One Design at a Time

As you all know, I just love putting art in everyone’s hands, and what better way to do it than producing everyday items you can surround yourself with on a daily basis? This is how the journey of my functional art series started. During lockdown I spent the time doing various courses, including textile design.  I had no idea how technical and vast this field was, and I have been so blown away by the course, that I knew infinite pattern-making is something I want to explore and pursue commercially.

“I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk.  What you believe in, and all your dreams. How you decorate your home. The food you make and the way you feel. Life is art.” – Helena Bonham Carter

What was my inspiration?

My inspiration was obviously my love and longing for Paris. I have spent many holidays there, and it has stolen a part of my heart. Click here to read about the inspiration for my “Postcards from Paris”, and how the secrets of Paris resonated with me.

What did I get myself into?!

A couple of months ago, I started my first series of textile designs. I decided to expand on my “Postcards from Paris” Series,  so I went back to the drawing board, doing a lot of pen and ink sketches. From there it was countless hours, long days and months flying by faster than I could keep track of, designing the various patterns in this family. I ended up with almost 60 different designs! The next step is choosing the correct materials and products for the various designs, getting suppliers to print and people to manufacture the products. Phew!

An now for the final reveal!!!!

See the picture gallery of the process here, and click here to see what is available at the moment. I will add a new product every week, so please keep checking back in! I have to say, I am in LOVE with the end results, and I really hope you fall in love with them too. Thank you for sharing this journey with me!

What’s next? I am planning to launch my baby series early next year (it is in production as we speak), and the material will also be available to be sold by the meter (you can already start with backorders if you want to make sure you are first in line!). I will keep you posted in my newsletters and social media as it progresses.
